On November 19, 2024, the final auctions for the selection of projects to build a wind power plant for the Southern zone of the Kazakhstan’s Unified Electric Power System with a total installed capacity of 100 MW were held this year.
7 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, and 24 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted was 600 MW.
The maximum auction price during the auction for the selection of wind farm projects in 2024 was 22.68 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). The decrease in the price range of applications was recorded from 22.68 to 12.99 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).
According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company – «Hyperborea Bet» LLP, the installed capacity of the project is 100 MW, the auction price is 12.99 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be placed in the Turkestan region.
Representatives of the Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry and USAID took part in the auction as observers.
It should be noted that according to the results of the current year, following the Schedule of auctions for renewable energy, 700 MW of capacity was raffled off at the auction for the selection of projects for the construction of wind farms. During the competition, the marginal price was reduced to 6.9 tenge per kWh.
The next auction is scheduled for November 20, 2024 for the selection of projects for the construction of BioPP with a total installed capacity of 10 MW.
