On November 12, 2024, an auction was held to select projects for the construction of hydroelectric power plants for all zones of the Unified Electric Power System of the Republic of Kazakhstan (except for the Tentek River), with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.

4 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, and 10 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session.  The declared total capacity from the auction participants amounted to 101 MW.

The starting maximum auction price was 41.23 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). There is a decrease in the price range of applications from 41.23 to 40.93  tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

In accordance with paragraph 55 of the Rules for the Organization and Conduct of Auctions, the volume of installed capacity selection has been increased from 100 to 101 MW.

According to the results of the auction, the following companies were identified as winners: 

• «Korinskaya HPP-2» LLP, the installed project capacity is 5 MW, the auction price is 40.93 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• «KALZHYR RIVER ENERGY» LLP, the installed project capacity is 16 MW, the auction price is 40.94 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• «Korinskaya HPP-2» LLP, the installed project capacity is 26 MW, the auction price is 40.99 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• «Cascade NRG» LLP, the installed project capacity is 10.5 MW, the auction price is 41 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT);
• «Baskan Irrigation» LLP, the installed project capacity is 30 MW, the auction price is 41.22 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ALE «Qazaq Green» Renewable Energy Association, ALE «Kazakhstan Electric Power Association», USAID and the EBRD participated in the auction as observers. Observers noted the complete transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer, «KOREM» JSC.

This year, in accordance with the Schedule of auctions, two auctions were held to select projects for the construction of large hydroelectric power plants. The total installed capacity of which is 300 MW.

On the next auction scheduled for November 13, 2024 will be chosen projects to build a HPP with a total installed capacity of 30 MW.
